The New York State Pavilion opened to the public for a one day special event marking the 50th anniversary of the 1964 New York World's Fair held at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. Nearly 2,500 people waited in line to enter the long closed and neglected pavilion which houses 567 4'x4' square tiles arranged in a mosaic depicting the state of New York. Officials are currently seeking approximately $52 million to restore and reopen the Queens icon.
