A 4 alarm fire erupted in a warehouse located at 561 Utica Ave. in Brooklyn. The fire was called in at 10:32AM and lasted for 3 hours and 5 minutes according to the FDNY Press Office. Eight firefighters suffered minor injuries.
A 28yr old NYPD officer commited suicide in front of 85-22 211th St. in the Hollis Hills neighborhood of Queens while he was on duty. The officer was responding to a vehicle break in and stepped outside the home of the caller when he shot himself.
Olga Annarumma, 57, and her daughter Valeria Kuzmina, 25, were working as caregivers in a home located at 22-49 38th St. in Astoria, Queens when husband Guerino Annarumma allegedly entered the home and shot both of them in the head. Mr. and Mrs. Annarumma were going through a divorce.
Hettie Patterson, 48, was murdered in her home at 111-11 143rd street in Jamaica, Queens by her landlord Eulith Reid sometime after 11am on Tuesday. Reid and Patterson had a months long dispute according to neighbors over Reid's request for Patterson to vacate the rented apartment. Police responded to a 911 call by another tenant who reported hearing screams. Patterson had suffered several knife wounds to the head and body according to police. Reid commited suicide before police could gain entry to the home.
